There are 2 reasons for this, 1 is that the garden had got out of hand and was looking scruffy and 2 is that my health problems showed that a ground level line needs a level of fitness that, whilst I currently have it, might limit me in the future.</p><p>I will update the site in the next few days to reflect projects and progress. </p>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-4945028740631062292021-10-10T09:03:00.006-07:002021-10-10T09:03:53.767-07:00Getting back into it.<p> The past couple of months have seen very little being done in terms of the garden railway. The garden itself is very untidy and I haven't been able to get any modelling done mainly down to my recovery from my recent operation and, in the last 2 weeks, the mess and upheaval associated with a bathroom being turned into a wet room. The work is now done and the boxes I had to take down from the loft have been returned to their storage. </p><p>This means I can now get at my workbench again so I will get on with the winter jobs of mending, building and planning plus the portable layout will get more work with track going down so I can work on the baseboards.</p><p><br /></p>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-38383581740242246162021-09-05T03:28:00.003-07:002021-09-05T03:28:50.966-07:00All Change<p> Several things have been happening with the railway the first being that I have built a set of portable boards to build a garden railway on tour. Track is now being lifted from the garden ready for its rebuild later in the Autumn and then Spring. </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5-nds618P3Kta3JQ5IYWog4Ej5sjEK4XyOYmRuEY2bvhHn2320t15VPJQFT4sjUn4LLVZ8LGjuC1Jg2EONTeIYHlTb_oC1Y00cNEbVn6Grs5taYDssN5QnyZmM_rx9s5iAMyEVI1Iq8A/s2048/20210827_161501.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5-nds618P3Kta3JQ5IYWog4Ej5sjEK4XyOYmRuEY2bvhHn2320t15VPJQFT4sjUn4LLVZ8LGjuC1Jg2EONTeIYHlTb_oC1Y00cNEbVn6Grs5taYDssN5QnyZmM_rx9s5iAMyEVI1Iq8A/s320/20210827_161501.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The baseboards assembled in the garden. This was down to the fact that I had my gall bladder removed and they had to open me up so I was unable to do very much. Hopefully in a week or so I will be able to get track down and trains running.</p><p>As sitting and leaning forward has been painful for me recently I have not been able to use my down time to get kits built however I can now do so for short periods so I will get on with it and get some videos made of the construction.</p><p>I did get trains running at the Model Fest using my test track. I have plenty of stock that could do with some extra details like loads or rivet detail etc., I have several locomotives that need completion plus I have an oval of old Triang track that needs sorting out so I can use it as a test track and Christmas Train track around the base of our Xmas tree.</p><p>I also need to sort out the spare room where my workdesk is located, getting rid of the large double bed that is rarely used and replace it with a sofa bed. This will give me somewhere comfortable to sit and read or watch the TV plus a nice big area of floor space to work on railway and Cosplay items.</p><p>More details as and when this happens.</p>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-75225053161786948752020-11-02T10:16:00.003-08:002020-11-02T10:16:42.038-08:00PDF Skylark Kit<p> I have just taken delivery of one of the new PDF Models Skylark kits and I have begun to put it together. It is nicely printed with some striping but it is not too bad. The parts need some work to make them fit but thats not really a problem. The tank supports were not in the kit so I will make some from balsa wood.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsR7nExdOuUEmQp3eRm7GyvjpPQvv4ZzX02edE6DTRmgwsjIZBJ4e_Hpbn7IvGAIcX9wQKykEOY6NQgn8wLsY197XORgjiGFaXKgB2mNE_pidhgmrppABcXyUpk8K7po7J5uG-IvV4TRM/s960/118929117_3499270780138702_2640667923500503738_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsR7nExdOuUEmQp3eRm7GyvjpPQvv4ZzX02edE6DTRmgwsjIZBJ4e_Hpbn7IvGAIcX9wQKykEOY6NQgn8wLsY197XORgjiGFaXKgB2mNE_pidhgmrppABcXyUpk8K7po7J5uG-IvV4TRM/s320/118929117_3499270780138702_2640667923500503738_n.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The tank body showing the banding.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAKkcQSYqO-xOMTaDNxCwNji_1MG8R-EasPRPpfRRIE4f-SempqLeD5zYzaP0qxqu053dHfrh0FS02heTrxI_7qOOaMHIrQVZpmWHHcTZxtQkZxSCTjgzA_NtLfbcOsQ-NW67u9hHmCbM/s960/118953243_3499270670138713_5038132799381834854_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAKkcQSYqO-xOMTaDNxCwNji_1MG8R-EasPRPpfRRIE4f-SempqLeD5zYzaP0qxqu053dHfrh0FS02heTrxI_7qOOaMHIrQVZpmWHHcTZxtQkZxSCTjgzA_NtLfbcOsQ-NW67u9hHmCbM/s320/118953243_3499270670138713_5038132799381834854_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The flat bed and chassis being built.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p>I hope to get this built over the next week.</p>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-24868510563010726312020-09-05T07:56:00.001-07:002020-09-05T07:56:18.090-07:00The wagons nearing completion<p> Both the new wagons are almost complete with just a load and numbering to add plus couplings.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIJY98GXAHdS8Ol_V0WAqY2Hauyywxlk_6I7pJ7CV651YCuMgF0sI3QSJvPJ1ae3OLCCpPRdC3ZHHkkA9W1jkgsKbP8uOhyphenhyphen-u_3U_VxyMXhlYGK20RYKgCL0H9L-mKdami4xVtOm588nM/s960/118839109_3493305640735216_8711166448401488923_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIJY98GXAHdS8Ol_V0WAqY2Hauyywxlk_6I7pJ7CV651YCuMgF0sI3QSJvPJ1ae3OLCCpPRdC3ZHHkkA9W1jkgsKbP8uOhyphenhyphen-u_3U_VxyMXhlYGK20RYKgCL0H9L-mKdami4xVtOm588nM/s320/118839109_3493305640735216_8711166448401488923_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh98LhuWADoJ0ND_WVQMBJtLfQ2vx6SqhkIhy6BJrdaboGzfkK58ayG9btIUFqU_xjVoLjWke-IbJYR6MEfy-4LzxcpHRBLRzDn4sfe93ZWaBQr-dWgC8-N_453XkWfTKQ6qvUzUkByjas/s960/118939946_3493305750735205_4173343189498482461_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh98LhuWADoJ0ND_WVQMBJtLfQ2vx6SqhkIhy6BJrdaboGzfkK58ayG9btIUFqU_xjVoLjWke-IbJYR6MEfy-4LzxcpHRBLRzDn4sfe93ZWaBQr-dWgC8-N_453XkWfTKQ6qvUzUkByjas/s320/118939946_3493305750735205_4173343189498482461_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-24757356855064392172020-08-26T05:41:00.003-07:002020-08-26T05:41:56.199-07:00Getting back into the workshop<p>Although I am currently in the middle of my summer holiday the first week was spent in hospital due to an ongoing problem with my Gall Bladder. I am now resting at home and part of that is building a few of the large number of kits I have.</p><p>First one on the bench is this Phil Sharples 3 plank open wagon which I am trying out putting strips of paper over the marked ironwork to help hide the seams on the corners. Plastic rivets going on and paint will then follow soon.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9ZFDDed58uRN3VElqJLqJsUSFBwq-q91aHtP1xu1LqClMQdehv7cxAok9usfocDhzCGy_WO7DbtO8pKvuzg_7xV-dSOrt4LbRae-y6X6EhHXaKX-kGkTWJmfQowXwZHkyvbmPZDb510Y/s960/118525050_3459637204102060_7489480662349004834_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9ZFDDed58uRN3VElqJLqJsUSFBwq-q91aHtP1xu1LqClMQdehv7cxAok9usfocDhzCGy_WO7DbtO8pKvuzg_7xV-dSOrt4LbRae-y6X6EhHXaKX-kGkTWJmfQowXwZHkyvbmPZDb510Y/s640/118525050_3459637204102060_7489480662349004834_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjisO9oz9aYTAk6LCZB-8VLSpBWSqofix_crI-Wrv_pAxw32rcFIif8NSWbQgpQ3Y4qAX-b4qydk_hzudx161LA76M5zMIn3LmbqCLyUeCUzykq6PNqvoj-8Tu-Jy2Tz-pLvMoKaqFCwE8/s960/118585732_3459637300768717_8271564885364193347_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjisO9oz9aYTAk6LCZB-8VLSpBWSqofix_crI-Wrv_pAxw32rcFIif8NSWbQgpQ3Y4qAX-b4qydk_hzudx161LA76M5zMIn3LmbqCLyUeCUzykq6PNqvoj-8Tu-Jy2Tz-pLvMoKaqFCwE8/s640/118585732_3459637300768717_8271564885364193347_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-85005993657148879202020-08-10T04:19:00.001-07:002020-08-10T04:19:10.089-07:00More work done<p> I have finished off a few models which will be featured soon and I have added numbers to a few models that never received them. I have finished a few projects that I will add to the blog in the coming days and I am hoping to soon get the factory area started although I will have to buy the factory building before hand to allow me to set it all out correctly. Hopefully it will be done before the Autumn but, knowing me, it will probably take longer.<div><br /></div><div>More will be added to the site over the next week and pages will be updated as well as I have some dead links to remove.</div>Ian Thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612288116890734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3180293226828317596.post-5920928056576198162020-07-12T13:20:00.000-07:002020-07-12T13:20:58.912-07:00A new coachAnother lockdown project is this Phil Sharples 4-wheel coach<div>
